Students who graduate from our Class A Training program will be prepared for an entry-level job operating a Class A commercial motor vehicle. We have new classes starting every couple of weeks.

Classroom Skills Training
JTL’s classroom training prepares students to take the written CDL tests required to obtain a CDL permit and eventually their license. Approximately one-half of students’ training at JTL will be focused on classroom instruction.
What will I learn during Classroom Training? During your classroom training, instructors will focus on general trucking knowledge, combination vehicles, air brakes and the double/triple trailer, tanker and hazardous materials tests. Trainees will also learn how to complete a logbook to record their hours of service, learn how to read a map, and plan the most effective trip for their routes. Lastly, we will study the Federal Motor Carriers Safety Regulations to learn safe vehicle operation as a professional truck driver.
Behind-The-Wheel Skills Training
During students’ field training, they will physically be inside one of our many vehicles practicing their driving skills with an instructor and other students. A professional trainer will always be right by your side as you build your skills and confidence.
What will I learn during field training? Your behind-the-wheel training will include backing, shifting, and maneuvering your vehicle through traffic. JTL will train trainees in the types of situations they will face as a professional truck driver such as heavy traffic, tough turns, lane changes, and more. Students’ time will be spent on city streets and highways getting experience in real-life situations so they will have the knowledge and experience to begin a successful truck driving career.
